16 feared dead, over 40 injured in Gomoa Okyereko accident on Accra-Cape Coast Highway
Some 16 people are feared dead while 40 were injured in a gory accident at Gomoa Okyereko on the Accra-Cape Coast highway.
This was the result of a head-on collision between a petrol tanker and a bus at about 5:00 am this morning.
The bus was traveling from Abidjan to Buduburam while the tanker was filled with petrol, traveling from Accra heading towards Takoradi.

An eyewitness told the Ghana National Fire Service that the Yutong bus driver occasionally veered off his lane all through the trip.
The impact was great on the passenger sides of both vehicles, a situation which got “the tanker driver mashed.”
Speaking to the media, Winneba Fire Service Commander DO II Kwesi Hughes explained that, other passengers on the passenger side of the Yutong were also dismembered they were cut into pieces.
The Winneba Fire Service Commander stated that they have been able to rescue the rescuable lives first and have sent them to the trauma and specialist hospital and the rest have been also sent to a municipal hospital nearby.
As a result, the road has been blocked to traffic as security agencies on-site work around the clock to restore normalcy.
He added that they have been able to tow the Yutong bus to a place of safety and are currently, receiving the lifeless body of the driver’s mate after which they will tow the tanker to a place of safety as well so that they will be able to open the traffic.
