Christ is in the Boat – Abeiku Okai
MEMORY VERSE: Mark 4:39 (NIV)
“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.”
In life, we often encounter storms—challenges, difficulties, and trials that threaten to overwhelm us. These storms can take various forms, such as health issues, financial struggles, relationship problems, or the uncertainties of the future. Just like the disciples in the boat, we may find ourselves tossed by the waves, feeling helpless and afraid.
But in the midst of our storms, we have a comforting truth to hold onto—Christ is in the boat with us. The disciples’ experience on the stormy sea reminds us that Jesus is not only aware of our storms but also has the power to calm them. He may seem asleep or distant at times, but He is always present, ready to intervene when we call upon Him.
When the disciples woke Jesus, they expressed their fear and questioned His concern for their safety. In response, Jesus stood up, rebuked the wind, and commanded the waves to be still. Instantly, the raging storm ceased, leaving the disciples astonished and in awe of His power.
The storms of life serve a purpose. They reveal our need for Jesus and teach us to rely on His strength rather than our own. They remind us of our vulnerability and the limited control we have over our circumstances. In the midst of the storm, we learn to surrender to God’s sovereignty and to place our faith in the One who can calm the waves with a single word.
