STATEMENT PRESENTED BY THE REGIONAL CHAIRMAN OF THE PROGRESSIVE PEOPLES PARTY, SANFAA LUCIOUS ON THE DEFECTION OF HIM AND HIS TEEMING SUPPORTERS TO NDC.
DATE: 15th October, 2023
The NDC National Chairman, the Regional Chairman, Nananom, members of the Clergy, Patrons of the various political parties, invited media personnel, spectators, and members of the Progressive Peoples Party (P.P.P). In humility, I appreciate your presence here in response to our invitation at short notice.
Glory be to the Most High God who has blessed us all immensely and made it possible for us to assemble here today for the good of humanity and our beloved country Ghana.
The Progressive People’s Party (P.P.P) which we owe our political career to, has been very instrumental in shaping us into the fine politicians which we have become. The Inspiration, leadership, and guidance from Dr. Kwasi Nduom and other past and present executives have been very helpful in building our capacity in the sphere of politics.
The People’s Progressive Party’s ideologies, experiences, and strategic skills we have developed remain a lifetime treasure, we continue to cherish and love to hold at all times.
However, the time has come that we vacate from our positions as regional executives, constituency executives, and members of the party in Bono and Ahafo Region to serve another political calling, a calling we consider consistent with the ideals and dreams of the PPP.
Together with these wonderful people, who are herein gathered and many who couldn’t make it to this gathering, we bid farewell to the PPP, to lock-horns with the National Democratic Congress to continue the political struggle in our bid to wrestle power from a cluelessly cruel and classlessly incompetent Akufo Addo/Bawumia government that has led this country in economic attrition.
Currently, our beloved country has been bedeviled with unbearable economic challenges, the democratization of corruption among NPP appointees, and the brazen oppression and suppression of free speech.
The NPP will even agree with itself that this level of deterioration and rot has been unprecedented. Corruption, nepotism, insensitive leadership, clueless economic management, excessive borrowing wanton wastage of limited state resources, and pilferage of state cash has been the hallmark of this current administration.
Consequently, all other sectors have witnessed significant retrogression including the heightened educational crisis, poor healthcare system and non-function National Health Insurance Policy, and the collapse agriculture sector which has led to a shortage of food and for that matter high food prices.
The less said about our roads and transportation systems the better. The famous Year of Roads has become and legend of only the opera on which they wrote them. We the P.P.P executives cannot sit unconcerned and hopeless in our bid to Change this government and we cannot allow our passion, knowledge, and skills we have acquired to go to waste when we can put actionable effort into the mission to change this heartlessly incompetent government from power.
We believe the future of Ghana is in our hands, and we better act now to collectively save the nation or we perish together.
We have a dream of a better Ghana, a dream of serving our country not in words only but in deeds also, a dream of leading a revolution to foster the growth of our beloved country, founded by the great Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah.
We believe our actions today give impetus and meaning to the sacrifices of our forefathers for this country. Ghana would not be left to rot in the hands of some few self-seeking brigands who only came to steal, kill, and destroy.
Our dream is to take over the political mantle from the NPP by breaking the chains of political and state captivity to free the masses. Owing to the foregoing, the people of the Progressive People Party in the Bono region have decided to partner with the biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress to achieve this mission.
The ideological disposition of the party and its expression of same in deeds is an inspiration to the young generation of politically conscious youth and for that matter holds the torch for progressive action moving forward.
The NDC has shown great levels of selflessness, respect for human dignity, social, cultural, and ethnic inclusion, solidarity, and sensitivity to the plights of the vulnerable.
Today, the regional Chairman, the regional executives, constituency executives, and fearless party members do declare our solemn defection from the Peoples Progressive Party (P.P.P) and declare our unwavering support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and we pledge to abide by all the rules and regulations of the party and high the flag of the NDC in our struggle to build a better and prosperous Ghana so help us God.
Thank you for your time, God bless you, God bless the NDC and God bless our beloved motherland, Ghana.
