Fulani Herdsmen Face Force Evacuation at Kwahu Tafo
The chief of Kwahu Tafo, Nana Kwasi Opoku Mintah ll, and residents of Kwahu Tafo in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region have hinted that the Fulani issues at Kwahu Tafo have now been resolved to forcibly evacuation of the Fulani herdsmen from the area after an emergency meeting with the community members and leaders of Fulani herdsmen concerning the death of one citizen of Kwahu Tafo at his farm.
Nana Kwasi Opoku Mintah ll stressed, that the Fulani herdsmen in the area are given an order to confine their animals in a ranch or the resolution will be to shoot every cattle on site if the herdsmen do not comply with the evacuation directives or take their cows away from their lands.
According to the Chief, they are embarking on a total forcible evacuation exercise without leaving any cattle on their lands so therefore, the Fulani herdsmen in the area are to confine their animals in the ranch or take them away from the land.
He used the occasion to assure farmers of his commitment to stabilizing the situation to allow them to return to their farms and added that he would remain resolute in getting rid of the herdsmen to ensure that farmers are safe.
Nana Opoku Mintah ll, also called on the government, the Interior Minister, the MP of the Area, and all the security agencies to come to help them get rid of the Fulani off their lands.
Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the Leadership of the Fulani herdsmen present, Sariki Mohammed Abubakar stated that all Kwahu Zongo Chiefs appealed to the Chief of Kwahu Tafo Nana Kwasi Opoku Mintah ll, and their community members to reconsider the evacuation decision and expressed worry over the decisions taken by Nananom and promised to help peacefully resolve any issue at hand.
